Why Sealing is Necessary
Both travertine and marble are naturally porous materials. Without a sealant, liquids like water, oil, and acidic juices can penetrate the surface, leaving permanent stains or causing damage. A high-quality penetrating sealer fills these pores, creating an invisible barrier.
Sealing Steps
- Clean Thoroughly: Wipe the surface with a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Ensure it is completely clean and dry.
- Apply the Sealer: Use a clean microfiber cloth or a lamb's wool applicator to apply the sealer evenly.
- Let it Penetrate: Allow the sealer to sit on the stone for 15-20 minutes.
4. Wipe Excess: Buff away any remaining wet sealer on the surface with a dry, clean cloth. Do not let excess sealer dry on the surface.
5. Cure: Allow the sealer to cure for 24 hours before heavy use.
